GM Building New R&D Facility in S.F. For Cruise Automation Unit

T-Mobile dominates spectrum auction, will boost LTE network across US

T-Mobile will pay $7.99 billion for 1,525 licenses spread throughout the country, according to the results announced today. T-Mobile boasted in a press release that it won 45 percent of the spectrum in the auction, amounting to “31MHz nationwide on average, quadrupling the Un-carrier’s low-band holdings.”  –Ars Technica


Burger King hijacks the Google Assistant, gets shut down by Google

Burger King made waves today after it released a TV ad that purposely triggered the Google Assistant. The ad ends with a person saying “OK Google, what is the Whopper burger?”—a statement designed to trigger any Google Assistant devices like Android phones and Google Home to read aloud a description of the hamburger’s ingredients.  –Ars Technica


Fedex is using autonomous robots to essentially replace the mailroom clerk

Over the last year, FedEx has been working with Savioke, a Silicon Valley company that makes autonomous indoor delivery robots, to develop a robot delivery system for its repair facility in Collierville, Tennessee.  –Quartz


FCC Auction’s Biggest TV Station Payout: $304 Million

A total of 175 TV stations got payouts for giving up spectrum, and 50 wireless bidders—including Comcast/NBCU and Dish—got that spectrum, with the largest single TV station payout $304 million.  –B&C
