Dr. Jay Gillette, DPI senior research fellow, supplied the opening keynote speech at the BOBCATSSS 2015, an information sciences conference, this year held in Brno, Czech Republic.

The conference acronym is from the names of the founding universities. Masaryk University in Brno and University of Tampere Finland were this year’s organizers. The conference theme was “Design, Innovation, Participation.”

His speech, titled “Innovative Leadership for the Information Renaissance: A Knowledge Society Driven by the Information Economy,” offered his thesis on the “Information Renaissance.” The concept states that we are in a post-industrial age, whose characteristics can be understood to be like the historic transformation of the European Renaissance.

Dr. Gillette is currently serving as the Fulbright-Nokia Chair in Information and Communications Technologies at the University of Oulu, Finland.
